Blood Wedding | The Making of

Blood Wedding is my 3rd time composing for De Montfort University, produced by Leicester Curve. Due to lockdown restrictions at the time, Director Jennifer and designer David imagined a beautiful virtual theatre setting, simple & futuristic. My original compositions grew from samples of Spanish music from the era. Some associated with fascism such as military & war songs, and other samples taken from early Andalusia folk recordings. I then developed these samples into musical themes for the characters, such as Death, the Bride & Mother in Law.

The play was filmed entirely on the cast’s phones, whilst they interacted with one another on zoom. The edit was really challenging, but we managed to create something haunting & original with a low budget and a lot of imagination.
